Rooms, studio or one-bedroom apartments, residences, hotels and B&Bs. It’s up to you.

Enrolling in one of our courses, you will find all the housing options available and be able to purchase the one that you like the most, and for the entire length of your course if you so wish.

You can choose to stay with a family. Otherwise, you can make some new friends by sharing an apartment with other students. Do you prefer to always be independent? You could opt for a one-bedroom or studio apartment and live alone or with another person. If you would feel more at ease in absolute comfort, then we recommend a residence, hotel or a B&B.

For those seeking a vibrant campus experience, you also have the option of accommodation on campus, fostering a sense of community and proximity to academic facilities.

In a family

Live like an Italian. You will be able to stay in the house of a real Italian family. There you will be able to put everything you have learned into practice. And if you would like to enjoy some good cooking, you will be able to choose to have breakfast and dinner included.

Studio and one-bedroom apartments

Live independently. Choose between studio and one-bedroom apartments in residential areas well-connected to Unicollege. This is housing for one or two people with a bathroom and kitchen, fully furnished with kitchen utensils, blankets and sheets, with the possibility to have an Internet connection.

Hotels & B&Bs

Live like a king. B&B and hotels from 3 to 5 stars are at your disposal. All close to the campus, with prices and availability that vary according to the time of the year. Let us know what you prefer; we will find the accommodation most suited to you.

Shared apartments

Live in the company of people from all over the world. In shared apartments the kitchen and bathroom are common areas while you live in a single room. Pans, kitchen utensils, TV, plates and sheets are included.

Housing in a residence

Live relaxed. In a residence you will be able to have a mini-room with a kitchenette and bathroom. The cleaning is done daily while the sheets and towels are changed weekly.

On campus housing

Live conveniently. On-campus housing provides students with a convenient living arrangement, offering proximity to academic resources and fostering a vibrant community atmosphere. This option encourages active participation in campus life, events, and social interactions, contributing to a well-rounded university experience.

Studio and One Bedroom Apartments

The apartment option at Unicollege is perfect for those seeking an independent lifestyle and is a popular choice among students. Apartments in Italy, particularly in historic centers, are located in antique buildings and may differ from those in the student’s home country. They are typically on higher floors without elevators. While Unicollege maintains a standard for all apartments, each one is unique in appearance, style, layout, lighting, bedroom size/number, common space features, and kitchen size/features.

Unicollege’s apartments are situated in various buildings across the city center of Florence and the town of Tuscania, all within walking distance of the school. Standard apartment bedrooms are double occupancy with two single beds in a shared room. Although students can request a single room, availability is limited, and openness to a double room is important. Shared apartments are not co-ed.

All apartments are non-smoking, fully furnished, and equipped with essentials such as bed linen, towels, kitchen utensils, appliances, washing machine, TV, and Wi-Fi. However, they do not have a phone or air conditioning.

The rental period starts on the Housing Check-In Day and ends on the Housing Check-Out Day. Academic Year students must pay rent for both semesters and a single security deposit. Housing is provided for Fall and Spring semesters but not during the winter break.

For two consecutive summer sessions, students must pay rent for each session and a single security deposit. Housing costs cover reserved months, including the one-week break between summer sessions, even if sessions are in different cities.

Unicollege Apartment housing includes rent, repairs not caused by students, average utilities, internet connection, and one cleaning every two weeks per semester. It does not include meals or costs for damages, extra cleaning, or excessive utility consumption.

Any above-average utility costs are deducted from the security deposit and shared among apartment residents. Extra cleaning charges apply if the apartment is not clean on the specified check-out date.

How to reserve a shared apartment?

Upon acceptance into their Unicollege program for the semester, students will be provided with the link to the Unicollege Online Housing Application. Upon completion of the housing submission, students will receive an email confirming their housing request.

Following the submission process, students will receive an email from the housing staff containing a Dropbox link. They are required to upload necessary documentation such as passport, flight itinerary, visa (if needed), and payment proof (if applicable as per billing arrangement).

Approximately one week before the term begins, students will receive the following information via email:

  • Apartment address, specifying roommates and apartment mates
  • Details regarding Housing Check-In
  • The most up-to-date information on travel requirements for entry into Italy
Housing Deadlines

Students must submit the Housing Application Form and necessary documents to Unicollege Housing Services by the specified deadlines outlined below. Additionally, you can find the Check-In and Check-Out dates for the upcoming semesters.

Academic Year 2024-2025 Housing Dates:

  • Fall 2024: Application Deadline June 15; Rental Period (Check-in and Check-out): August 30-December 17
  • January Intersession: Application Deadline November 15; Rental Period (Check-in and Check-out): January 2-January 21
  • Spring 2024: Application Deadline November 15; Rental Period (Check-in and Check-out): January 31-May 20
  • Summer Session I, June 2024: Application Deadline April 10; Rental Period (Check-in and Check-out): May 31-June 29
  • Summer Session II, July 2024: Application Deadline May 15; Rental Period (Check-in and Check-out): July 6-August 3
Housing Policies

Fall 2024 Housing Cancellation Policy:

If an official cancellation notice is received from Unicollege:

  • 45 days or MORE prior to the Housing Check-In date, no penalty will be applied.
  • 44-31 days preceding the Housing Check-In date, the student will lose the security deposit (€250/$300).
  • 30-14 days preceding the Housing Check-In, the student is liable for the €250/$300 security deposit and 25% of the total rent.
  • 13-8 days preceding the Housing Check-In, the student is liable for the €250/$300 security deposit and 50% of the total rent.
  • 7-0 days preceding the Housing Check-In date (or fails to check-in to his or her housing assignment), the student is responsible for the full rental amount of the accommodation and the security deposit for the entire academic term.

The student will be fully liable for the total housing cost and security deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by Unicollege before the Housing Check-In date. Refunds beyond those outlined above are not possible due to non-recoverable costs paid to external housing providers, regardless of the reason (including but not limited to those related to COVID).

Spring 2025 Housing Cancellation Policy:

If an official cancellation notice is received from Unicollege:

  • Any cancellation must be communicated in a written withdrawal form, which can be requested.
  • Once the student arrives in Italy, no refund will be made for any reason whatsoever if a student decides to cancel, change, or vacate an assigned apartment.
  • If a student cancels 45 days or MORE prior to the check-in date, the €250/$300 security deposit and €850/$1200 advance of the rent payment will be refunded.
  • If a student cancels 44-31 days preceding the check-in date, the student will lose the security deposit (€250/$300) but will be refunded the €850/$1200 advance of the rent payment.
  • 30-11 days preceding the check-in date, the student is liable for the €250/$300 security deposit and €850/$1200 advance of the rent payment.
  • If a student cancels 10-0 days preceding the check-in date or fails to check-in to his or her housing assignment, the student is responsible for the full rental amount of the accommodation and the security deposit for the entire academic term.

The student will be fully liable for the total housing cost and housing deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by Unicollege before check-in. Refunds beyond those outlined above are not possible due to non-recoverable costs paid to external housing providers, regardless of the reason (including but not limited to those related to COVID).

January Intersession & Summer Sessions 2024 Housing Cancellation Policy:

Any cancellation must be communicated in a written withdrawal form, which can be requested. Once the student arrives in Italy, no refund will be made for any reason if a student decides to cancel, change, or vacate an assigned apartment.

  • If a student cancels 45 days or MORE prior to the Housing Check-In date, the $300/ €250 security deposit and full rent payment will be refunded.
  • If a student cancels 44-15 days preceding the Housing Check-In date, the student will lose the security deposit (US$300/ €250) but will be refunded the full rent payment.
  • If a student cancels 14-0 days preceding the Housing Check-In date or fails to check-in to his or her Housing assignment, the student is responsible for the full rental amount and the security deposit of the accommodation for the entire academic term.

The student will be fully liable for the total housing cost and security deposit if no official notice of the student’s cancellation is received by Unicollege before Housing Check-In. Refunds beyond those outlined above are not possible due to non-recoverable costs paid to external housing providers, regardless of the reason (including but not limited to those related to COVID).

Safety & Well-Being

Unicollege prioritizes the safety and comfort of its students in shared living arrangements, aiming to provide the necessary information for maintaining a high standard of residential experience. The following guidelines are specifically for students residing in shared apartments through Unicollege:

  1. Housing Issues and Emergency Numbers:
    • Students should save contact details of landlords or agencies received upon arrival.
    • In case of housing issues, contact the landlord directly and inform the student advisor. For emergencies outside office hours, use the provided LdM emergency cell phone number.
  2. Locked Doors:
    • Always deadbolt the lock when leaving the apartment for security.
    • When inside, deadbolt the lock and remove the key from the lock. The entrance doors do not lock automatically.
  3. Keys:
    • Do not keep the apartment address on the key ring or written anywhere.
    • Check for keys before leaving; contact the landlord or agency for lost keys.
  4. Noise:
    • Avoid making noise after 11:00 p.m. to respect neighbors.
    • Parties are not allowed; maintain quietness in stairwells and apartments.
  5. Overnight Guests:
    • Per the leasing agreement and Italian law, overnight guests are not permitted.
  6. Utilities:
    • Respect energy conservation, use washers after 8:00 p.m., and turn off appliances when not in use to avoid excess charges.
  7. Heating System:
    • Heating can be used from Nov. 1 to April 15, up to 10 hours a day at 20 degrees Celsius. Contact the landlord for thermostat adjustments.
  8. Proper Ventilation:
    • Ventilate apartments daily, especially in historic structures. Leave the bathroom window open after a shower to prevent mildew.
  9. Waste System:
    • Adhere to waste separation rules and use the correct bins to avoid fines. Detailed waste separation information is provided upon arrival.

These guidelines aim to enhance the safety, well-being, and responsible living practices of students in shared accommodations.
